Get Linux is a small, portable Windows tools which makes it easy to locate, find out more about and download more than 100 Linux distributions.
At its simplest you can use the program as a quick way to download a distribution you know already. Just find it in the list, choose the 32 or 64-bit option, click Download and you're done. (Well, subject to the usual download times, anyway.)
You can also use the program to browse some of what the Linux world has to offer, though. Scroll down the list and you'll see "Qimo 4 Kids", for instance - what's that? Selecting the distribution will give you a screen shot, brief text description and some basic details (version, download size and so on). And there are also quick links to each distro's website, its entry on DistroWatch.com, and a YouTube search for any relevant videos.
If you're a total Linux novice then this won't necessarily help you a great deal. The Get Linux descriptions won't tell you what's good and what isn't, and while you can find out more about that on DistroWatch.com, you could of course do that without bothering to download Get Linux at all.
If you're already interested in Linux and Linux-based tools, though, the program provides an easy way to find and download whatever you need. And as Get Linux itself comprises a single executable under 1MB in size, it's probably the kind of tool you can afford to keep around, "just in case".
Verdict:Get Linux is a straightforward portable Windows utility which makes it easy to find and download the distro you need.
