Safeguard provides backup and recovery services for Oracle database software across a range of operating systems and Oracle versions.
Backup and recovery in Oracle is performed using the Oracle-supplied RMAN scripting language. Safeguard provides wizards to help build the appropriate scripts for full database, incremental database, tablespace, datafile and logs backups. It also creates database recovery scripts for full database, partial database, point in time recovery as well as duplication and database migration.
Safeguard provides centralized backup job scheduling and execution across all databases distributed within your organization. It performs the backup job and forwards results to a centralized reporting server where a daily report can be sent to administrators with a summary of the daily operations. The vendor states that Safeguard is scalable to hundreds of databases.
